Educational technology and mobile learning is advancing at a lightening-fast pace and this is reflected in Ontario classrooms; however, research to support these new technologies is not keeping pace or has not yet taken place. How can we, as teachers, hope to keep up with technology while ensuring that we use tools that are proven to help our students with LDs succeed?
With this post, the LD@school Team is providing you with some information on how to link your students’ learning profiles (strengths and needs), with educational applications that can draw on those strengths and provide assistance within those areas of need.
There are many lists of educational applications readily available but it is important that, as a professional, you are able to critically examine an application and determine if it is appropriate for your students’ learning profiles. With this end in mind, we have created a set of criteria that will guide you in finding an app to meet your students’ needs. Although this checklist was developed with supporting students with LDs in mind, you could repurpose this checklist to find apps to support or engage all of your students.
